Postural Assessment & Corrective Exercise

Poor posture can effect us in so many ways, reduced movement, pain, poor exercise form, changes in body shape. Many of us are desk-bound, hunched over a computer for hours and hours, commuting to and from work, and spending our evenings sitting even more in order to relax by either watching TV or reading.

Poor posture can cause a number of different health and well-being-related problems, including one or more of the following:

  • Chronic and acute pain in the back, neck, and shoulder
  • Headaches
  • Knee, hip, and back injuries
  • Respiration problems
  • Stiffness
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle atrophy and weakness
  • Digestive problems
  • Sciatica
  • Formation of varicose veins or “spider” veins
  • Impingement and nerve compression
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

Poor posture can be caused by:

  • Slouching and sitting for long periods of time
  • Workstations not being set up correctly
  • Hunched back and 'text neck.'
  • Lifting things incorrectly.
  • Inappropriate footwear
  • Not knowing what correct posture is

Postural assessment and corrective exercise include the evaluation of your posture in dynamic and static situations. The aim is to identify postures that could be contributing to your problem and give you a tailored programme to improve any issues identified. The program will involve in depth analysis, corrective exercises, manual restorative treatment techniques, posture improvement rehab. 

It's estimated that every other person in the UK has some form of back pain, but people can make huge steps to improve their posture, take care of their spine and help themselves look and feel their best.

You will be given a programme with videos, pictures and instructions, so no more worrying if you are doing your exercises correctly and given a single sheet of basic exercises to follow.
